Job Description

To work with programme teams and other colleagues in Christian Aid in developing programmes, leading on raising and managing restricted institutional income and promoting positive engagement with donors to achieve transformational growth by increased impact, scale and leverage. The post will mentor/manage the work of colleagues within a region or continent, and take a lead in disseminating skills and experience.

1. Institutional funding opportunities identified to fit Christian Aid priority areas and partners through research and intelligence, and funding strategy and action plans fully developed.

2. Programme development work supported, concept notes, full bids and tenders completed.

3. Effective negotiation and liaison with donors and through networks achieved on development
4. and emergency programmes opportunities and outcomes.

5. Contract management exercised for fully compliant project implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation in line with Christian Aid processes and donor requirements.

6. Fundraising targets and contract management standards achieved.

7. Robust internal reporting on contract management indicators completed and experience and learning shared, particularly with junior staff.

8. Positive relationships developed with Christian Aid programme teams, humanitarian staff and partners through effective coordination and communication

9. Effective coordination achieved and support provided in relation to other Christian Aid fundraising teams and their restricted funding work as part of the total economy.

10. Programme funding staff managed or professionally supported, including mentoring in technical aspects of programme funding.

Candidate Profile

1. Educated to degree level or equivalent. Preferably in relevant area.

2. Excellent knowledge of institutional donors, particularly EuropeAid, ECHO, DFID policies, funding modalities and rules knowledge of development issues and current affairs in the region

3. Financial controls and procedures

4. Project Cycle Management

5. Knowledge of official donors.

6. SPHERE standards and codes of conduct

7. knowledge of churches and indigenous organisations.

8. Management of people / professional supervision

9. Significant relevant work experience including proposal and report writing for donors such as DFID, EC, USAID, Trusts and Foundations

10. Proven success of securing funds from official donors

11. Planning, monitoring and reporting on development and/or humanitarian programmes

12. In depth knowledge of country/region of work

13. Experience of partner-based work

14. Training and facilitation skills.
